Having loved our dad through his journey with dementia, it has become an especially dear cause for us. Especially for me, Dawn Zadrozny. I have spent the past nine years working in memory care communities and learning about dementia. I recently received my Certified Dementia Practitioner designation.
The State of Arizona has new regulations that require specific training for those who work in memory care facilities. I am honored to have been approved to present my Memory Care Services Training Program to those who need to be certified to work in the industry.
To provide person-centered care to those living with dementia, all staff and contractors need a firm foundation on the principles of dementia, an obligation to deliver services particular to the needs of each individual resident, and a commitment to promoting dignity, comfort, and emotional well-being.
Modules 1-7 are self-paced courses with written practical exams to demonstrate proficiency. They are prerequisites for the final two learning modules, and should be taken in order, starting with module one and completing the series with module seven. Practical Exams are required to be passed at the end of each module with a score of 70% or higher. These modules are available on Amazon in book form entitled Memory Care Services Training for State of Arizona Certification by Dawn Zadrozny.
Modules 8 and 9 must be completed in person, in accordance with state regulations. These last two modules build on the lessons learned in modules one through seven. They challenge participants to demonstrate appropriate approaches, responses, and skills for various typical scenarios encountered when providing care to residents living with dementia in a memory care environment. Please contact me at dawn.GiveAMoment@gmail.com to reserve your spot at an upcoming two-hour in-person training session.
The role as managers is pivotal in shaping the quality of care and overall experience for memory care residents, families, and staff. Person-centered care is not just a task; it is a philosophy that places the individual at the heart of everything we do. It requires a profound understanding of each resident’s unique needs, preferences, and life history. This training will equip managers with deeper knowledge and skills necessary to foster a compassionate and supportive memory care environment.
A deeper understanding of the issues discussed in the Managers’ Memory Care Services (MCS) Training will not only improve the quality of care, but will also contribute to a more fulfilling and safer experience where residents, their families, and staff feel valued and understood.
The four modules are self-paced and quizzes for each module must be passed with 70% or greater score for certification. The modules and quizzes are included in Memory Care Services Training book available at Amazon.
Annual refreshment of skills presents staff and contractors the opportunity to build on the initial training and the past year’s experiences.
Modules 1-3 are self-paced courses with written practical exams to demonstrate proficiency with the information. This course will be available in Spring 2026.
Module 4 must be completed in person. This last module challenges participants to demonstrate appropriate approaches, responses, and skills for various typical scenarios encountered when providing care to residents living with dementia in a memory care environment. This course will be available in Spring 2026.
